Rovinj

Rovinj is a city in Croatia situated on the north Adriatic Sea with a population of 14,294 (as of 2011). Located on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, it is a popular tourist resort and an active fishing port.  Rovinj doesn`t have an airport, but close by are airports in Pula, Rijeka and Triest.
From Pula the easiest way to reach Rovinj from the airport is to drive - the journey takes approximately 40 minutes. Although cars are not permitted in the old town, Rovinj is sufficiently small so that parking is available close to most of the city.

The old town and the surrounding area are easily accessible on foot.  It is easy to stroll around the whole town. While strolling through the narrow streets guests can see the local houses, balconies, beautiful windows, terraces and porches with wealth of different architectural styles. Small churches, monuments, old doors and arches await behind every corner. This is a picturesque town with many Italian influences and same atmosphere.

Rovinj is one of nine settlements officially designated as towns in Istria County in western Croatia. Originally the peninsula on which the city lies was an island, separated from the mainland by a channel. The latter was filled in 1763. Rovinj Archipelago includes 22 islets.
It remains one of the last true Mediterranean fishing ports. One of the most 'photogenic' towns in the Mediterranean, once a fishing town, today is a tourist resort. The entire coastline, with its twenty-two islands is an area of protected natural heritage. Its surroundings offer immense possibilities for recreation: biking, horseback riding, jogging. But, owing to the sea and what it has to offer, ranging from sailing to discovering the underwater world, its therapeutic properties, today Rovinj-Rovigno is the destination for tourists from all over the world.

The main Church of St. Euphemia keeps relics of the saint and presents one of the most beautiful Baroque achievements in Istria.
From the church plateau there is a wonderful view of the open sea and numerous islets in the distance.
